Beliefs
We believe girls have many assets that strengthen them and help them to manage any challenges. These assets include mentors, good communications, strong relationships with friends and family, intelligence, maturity, work ethic, and compassion.
Focus
The “Discover Your Power” conference focused on the information, support and skills that girls need to build on these assets.
Design
The conference was designed for girls by girls to create a sense of community and enhance assets in a positive, active and creative environment. Expanded to middle school girls and girls in other Montana communities especially those with existing Turner Initiatives.
Approach
Girls worked with adult women mentors to market, raise funds for and organize a conference. This was an opportunity to build intergenerational relationships and enhance girls experiences and knowledge and exposure to leaders in the community.
